Linux System Engineer

Purpose

This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining systems (software and hardware computing infrastructure) supporting IDEMIA's processes and operations.

Key Missions

System Engineer Position


Project Description: The project entails supporting TM01 and TM02 data centers located in Romania and the United States, respectively. The focus of this recruitment is to provide assistance and maintenance for these data centers.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Installation, configuration, and testing of physical servers, including hardware and software components.
  • Maintenance of infrastructure systems.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving system issues.
  • Daily management of JIRA for service desk/ticketing purposes, addressing tickets created by other teams (e.g., user access, security, Linux technology implementation).
  • Collaboration with the infrastructure team for managing systems; no direct customer relations.
  • Generation of improvement ideas and planning of hotfixes.
  • Provision of recommendations.


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Linux, Docker, Docker Compose, Terraform, Ansible, Git, Python, and JIRA.
  • Basic knowledge of VMWare and XEN Virtualization platforms.
  • Experience with microservices technologies such as Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of CI/CD tools like Jenkins and Azure Pipelines (nice to have).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure.
  • Optional but beneficial skills include software-defined storage (GlusterFS) and web servers (Apache, NGINX).


 

Profile:
Candidates should possess a proactive and perseverant attitude, with a strong interest in troubleshooting and analytical thinking.
Suitable backgrounds include DevOps, programming, infrastructure, and system administration with Linux experience.
While an engineering degree is preferred, experience holds more significance.


Required Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Linux is a must.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Docker Compose, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Git, Python, and JIRA is essential.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure is required.
  • Optional but beneficial skills include knowledge of VMWare, XIM, CI/CD tools, software-defined storage, and web servers.
