Compliance Engineer

Purpose
The Compliance Engineer ensures that manufacturing site systems, processes, and products comply with applicable safety, security, quality, and regulatory standards. Under the direction of the Sr. Compliance Manager, this role supports site projects, strengthens operational controls, and applies data analytics and LEAN methodologies to improve performance, reduce risk, and enhance overall compliance.

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
- Lead and manage major compliance-related projects including facility upgrades, new equipment/process introductions, layout changes, and risk-reduction initiatives.
- Develop project scopes, timelines, risk assessments, and stakeholder communication plans to ensure successful execution in a manufacturing environment.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, EHS, Security, and Quality to integrate improvements into production workflows
Control Plans & Compliance Systems
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust control plans that support Safety, Physical Security, Quality, and operational compliance.
- Ensure processes, documentation, training, and controls meet internal standards and external regulatory requirements (ISO 9001, PCI, OSHA, ISO 27001/45001, etc.).
- Conduct gap analyses, FMEAs, PFMEAs, JSAs and process validations to ensure control adequacy and sustainment.
Continuous Improvement, LEAN & Risk Reduction
- Identify opportunities to improve compliance, reduce defects, and eliminate waste using LEAN tools (5S, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen).
- Lead root cause analyses (8D, Fishbone, 5 Why, IS/ISNOT) and drive effective CAPAs with measurable results.
- Develop standard work, visual controls, and process documentation that support efficient, compliant manufacturing operations.
Safety, Security & Quality Integration
- Support program owners (EHS, Security, Quality, Training) with engineering analysis, risk assessments, ergonomic evaluations, and process redesigns.
- Conduct assessments related to machine safety, equipment guarding, lockout/tagout, chemical handling, and environmental compliance.
- Ensure production processes adhere to corporate policies, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations.
- Perform internal audits for EHS, Security, and Quality systems; support external audits and customer assessments.
- Track findings, ensure timely closure, and maintain audit readiness across manufacturing areas.
Data Analytics, Monitoring & Reporting
- Use data analytics to identify trends, nonconformances, process drift, and systemic risks across production areas.
- Develop dashboards and KPIs to monitor compliance performance, audit readiness, and process capability.
- Provide regular updates to leadership on project progress, risks, compliance metrics, and improvement outcomes.
Profile & Other Information
Qualifications
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Industrial Technology, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality, compliance, security, or EHS environments.
- Strong understanding of compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO standards, OSHA, Security standards).
- Experience running medium-to-large projects and delivering on timelines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (8D, RCA, FMEA, Risk assessments and control plans).
- Familiar with Job Safey Assessments, LOTO and other Safety program requirements.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate clearly with all levels of the organization.

- Experience in a highly regulated environment (secure manufacturing, personalization, financial tech, aerospace, etc.).
- Knowledge of PCI, ISO 9001/27001,45001 CMMC, or comparable frameworks.
- CSP, MS, CIEE, COEE
- Lean Six Sigma experience or certification.
- Experience developing standard work and process controls.
