Customs Operation Manager

Purpose

This role manages tasks associated with both import and export administration.

Key Missions

Under the management of the Customs Director, the activities are as follows:

  • Help to manage the customs
    • Assist the customs Director to manage the network of local custom managers, the import process, customs documentation, shipping, and receiving of foreign merchandise to ensure it arrives on time
    • Get the data from the sites and analyse them to produce KPI
    • Participate in the description of the dispatch of customer’s export orders and physical flow from departure to the destination
    • Retrieve the adequate special programs and facilitations available in different countries are in place to optimize the duties and taxes
  • Assist the Director with the regulators
    • Participate in the processes related to AEO certification and coordinate with network of customs managers
    • Obtain necessary data to control international shipments and ensures payment of duties or tariffs
  • Policy and Compliance, Help to:
    • Define customs management policy and guidelines for the division and drive implementation.
    • Define audit plan and control all documentation related to the import/export processes in line with applicable internal policies external regulations
    • Ensure a proper follow up with our brokers monitoring and archiving all customs documentation
    • Ensure compliance with the home and foreign country government laws and customs regulations
    • Ensure the correct information regarding value, tariff, origin and incoterms are properly set up in our ERP and align with our transfer price policy and physical and financial flows

Profile & Other Information

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in customs either in a private company or in a freight forwarder

Language

  • English fluent
  • French fluent or intermediate (majority of the corporate meetings are in French)
  • Additional language is a plus

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency with customs import and export regulations
  • Proficiency with customs organizations processes and systems
  • Proficiency in office tools (Excel, Power BI, Power Platform)
  • Ability to analyze complex problem involving numerous parties and propose solutions
  • Customer oriented
  • Organizational Skills

Education

  • BAC + 4/5 level engineering or business school type with specialization in Supply Chain/Logistics
  • Master and/or MBA is a plus
