Internship : Génération et détection de DeepFake

Purpose
Context:
Within IDEMIA, the Research & Technology unit plays a key role in developing the technologies of tomorrow, which are integrated across all our product lines.
Comprising around 100 passionate researchers and engineers, the team pushes the boundaries of innovation every day in high-impact domains such as facial recognition, fingerprint and iris recognition, fraud detection, secure acquisition, video analysis, and document recognition and authentication.
Technological Environment :
Rapid progress is currently being made in the field of Generative AI and deepfake technology [1, 2].
Although deepfake videos are not yet perfect, they have already caused significant harm to many individuals [3], and it is widely acknowledged that they represent a serious threat to society.
For example, deepfakes have recently been used to attempt to misinform the Ukrainian armed forces [4].
It is therefore of utmost importance that defenses against this threatening technology remain robust and up to date.
Public information campaigns and word-of-mouth have already made the general public more skeptical about videos coming from untrusted sources.
However, more systematic and reliable defense mechanisms are required.
In the absence of strict governance regarding media provenance and distribution, deepfake detection remains the only realistic option.
Automatic deepfake detection relies on deep learning–based classification methods, whose performance largely depends on the quality and quantity of data available for neural network training.

Missions :
The main tasks will consist of generating high-quality deepfake video datasets by identifying and reproducing the most common deepfake technologies, as well as training deepfake detection networks.
During this internship, the candidate will acquire advanced knowledge of generative AI techniques and benefit from IDEMIA’s deep learning expertise.
The internship will last 6 months, starting in 2026, and will be based in Courbevoie (La Défense).

Education:
University degree or Engineering school
Technical skills / language requirements:
- First experience in image processing, computer vision, or machine learning
- Strong background in mathematics, data analysis, C, Python, PyTorch
- Fluent English, both spoken and written
