Material & Inventory Financial Analyst

Purpose

Join our Finance and Controlling team as a Material and Inventory Financial Analyst, where you will support inventory valuation, material cost control, and financial reporting across raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods. Partnering closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, and plant leadership, you'll help ensure accurate costing, inventory integrity, and financial visibility across the manufacturing process.

Key responsibilities include standard costing, BOM analysis, inventory reconciliations, cycle counts, physical inventories, month-end close activities, and analysis of material usage, purchase price variances, production inefficiencies, inventory aging, and obsolescence reserves. You'll also review material purchase orders and requisitions to ensure accurate pricing, coding, budget alignment, and compliance with costing requirements.

This role offers hands-on exposure to manufacturing operations and material flow, with regular interaction on the production floor. Success requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, financial discipline, and the ability to build effective partnerships across Finance, Supply Chain, and Production

Key Missions

• Develop, maintain, and analyze standard product costing, including BOM structures, procurement pricing, yield assumptions, and take-off reporting.
• Provide cost accounting support to Manufacturing and Operations through analysis of material usage, purchase price variances, production inefficiencies, wastage, overs, and inventory valuation.
• Manage inventory accounting for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods, including reconciliations, physical and cycle counts, aging analysis, obsolescence reserves, and inventory controls across plant and warehouse locations.
• Review and approve material purchase orders and requisitions, ensuring accuracy of pricing, quantities, coding, supplier terms, budget alignment, and BOM consistency while resolving purchasing discrepancies.
• Prepare and reconcile monthly journal entries and plant accounting transactions, including inventory adjustments, write-offs, cost center transfers, absorption entries, POPs, and samples.
• Support month-end close, financial reporting, variance analysis, expense reviews, reconciliations, and management reporting.
• Maintain KPI scorecards and perform financial and operational analyses to identify trends, improve performance, reduce costs, and support business decision-making.
• Partner with Engineering, Production, and Operations to maintain BOM accuracy, improve processes, and support cost-saving initiatives.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing inventory schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Perform ad hoc financial analysis, special projects, and other duties as assigned by the Controller.

Profile & Other Information

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
• 2 – 5 years of cost accounting experience
• Prior manufacturing experience preferred

COMPUTER SKILLS 

• Microsoft Excel knowledge and experience preferred (above average)
• Microsoft PowerPoint 
• Must possess the skills to manipulate data from the operating system into excel for financial reporting and analysis (essential)
• D365 ERP
